I have fond memories of my beautiful Aunt Clara. As a little girl I was intrigued by her beautiful eyes and radiant smile. Her laugh filled the room. Aunt Clara will be missed. Eleven years ago as Greg's new girlfriend, it was daunting meeting his Dad and Susie, let alone his aunts, uncles, cousins and Grandma all at the same time, but that's what happened. It didn't take me long to realize how friendly and welcoming the Hirsch family is, but it was Nana that I instantly felt comfortable with. She looked at me with those tender, welcoming, twinkling eyes of hers, had a wonderful smile on her face, and gave me such a big hug. I will miss her. Love, Jody :-)

Clara, or Mom, as I felt privileged to call her, was an example in many ways; I narrowed it down to four “F’s”. Clara, or Mom, as I felt privileged to call her, was an example in many ways; I narrowed it down to four “F’s”. Faith: Few in this world could provide the example Clara gave as a true believer in Jesus Christ as her savior. Every day, she read from her well-worn Bible, even in the last weeks. When it was no longer possible, Judy took over. She knew she would join Jesus one day in Heaven, and now she has. She is with Ed, her husband, her sister, Andy, her mother and all the others who predeceased her. Together with the Lord, they are probably playing a mean game of poker. Family: Mom created an extremely strong family. Her children, Duane, Rick and my bride, Judy, all took her lessons to heart and passed them on to their own children. When Judy and I married, Clara welcomed me in along with my children and our extended family. Always loving, always caring, never a cross word. Friends: Clara created friends out of chance meetings; a stranger one minute, a friend the next. She enjoyed the company of others, liked to welcome them into her home and life. At the Fountains, she had many, many people she would call friend. In January, Clara spent a few days in the Hospice House and soon after she was wandering the halls looking for someone, a new friend, to play cards with. Female: She was a wife, mother, grandmother and a lady. She filled the roles of her gender with strength and grace, always the supportive spouse and providing mother. She cleaned the house, cooked the dinners, wiped the noses and was a shoulder to cry on. I think Donna Reed took lessons from Clara. To some today, this may be an insult, but not to Clara. She relished the role and all who knew her are better because of it. Twenty-four years ago, I was indecisive about my relationship with Judy. I knew I loved her, but was reluctant to take the chance and get married again. To help me decide, I looked to Clara. I figured if Clara had passed on her traits to Judy, I could not go wrong in marrying her, and I was right. Like I said, “Example”. Clara, mom, I miss you terribly. The last months here in our home was an experience I will always treasure. I love you.
