Clara Lou Lee, a resident of Albuquerque, passed over peacefully on June 1, 2010. Clara Lou was born on February 22, 1933 in Atarque, NM and was raised in Quemado, NM. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, James L. Lee, Jr. who died in June of 2005. She is survived by her sons, James Louis Lee III and wife Cynthia; John Lee and wife Cindy; daughter; Janet Marie Ohlig and husband Ronald; granddaughters, Lisa Marie Carter and husband Scott; Samantha Kate Lee; Tosha Ann Ducker and husband Michael; grandsons, J. Louis Lee IV and wife Laura; Scott Charles Lee, Christopher Lee Ohlig; great-grand children, Trevor Carter, Anna Ducker and Jacob Ducker; sister-in-law, Patsy Ann Nesbitt; niece, Lee Ann Moores and husband Mark and their daughter Sara; nephew Ralph Dewey Nesbitt and wife Barbara; and many other loving family members and friends; and her daily companion “Tiny”, her poodle. Clara Lou loved flowers and nature and was an avid gardener. She loved arts and crafts, puzzles, reading and history. She was an ordained Elder in the Presbyterian Church. She taught Sunday School, taught in the schools of Ysleta ISD and had her own pre-school in Albuquerque where many children had adopted another “Nana” in their lives. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and all those who knew her. The family wishes to thank Inja (Pip) Thorne for being more than her caretaker but was also her companion. Their love and passion for handiwork crafts and the outdoors kept Clara Lou going strong during these last few months as she battled cancer . Family and friends are invited for a service to pay tribute and celebrate her life on Sunday, June 6 at 5pm at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd in Albuquerque. Clara Lou will be laid to rest on Monday, June 7 at 11am on the A Lazy A Ranch in Quemado, NM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Clara Lou’s name to the Quemado Memorial Scholarship Fund. Send to P. O. Box 128, Quemado, NM 87829.
