Gloucester: Clarence V. "Jack" Burton III, 75,left to be with our Lord on April 18, 2012. He was born in Hampton, VA on Jan 22, 1937. Jack was a 1955 Graduate of Hampton high school where he played football and ran track and was known as "Ammy". Jack served in the National Guard and was a retired manager from Lucent Technology. He was involved in many clubs and organizations that helped his community, serving in many capacities for organizations such as Khedive Shriners Chesapeake Shrine Club, Scottish Rite 32 Degree Newport News, Masonic Botetourt Lodge #7 AF & AM and St. Tammany Lodge # 6, ELK Lodge, National Rifle Association and the Southwark Hunt Club, Surry, VA. Jack devoted a large part of his life in fulfilling the duties of a Shriner and a Mason. Jack loved taking his family boating where he would tell them many stories about the water and the history of Gloucester. His special love was visiting Hawaii especially the island of Kauai, where he and his wife shared many wonderful memories together. On a typical day Jack would be found doing something he loved outdoors which included fishing, hunting and taking in the beautiful day with his wife and dog "Buddy" by his side. He was an avid hunter and was secretary treasurer of Southwark Hunt Club is Surry, Va. Jack was a wonderful husband and friend to his wife Linda. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by parents, Clarence V. Burton, Jr. and Margaret Foster Burton.
He is survived by:

Daughters: Jennifer Nygren, "Kid"
Elizabeth D. Burton
Brother: William G. Burton and wife Carol
Niece: Susan Burton Jacobsen
Nephews: William Burton and Steven Burton
and his canine companion: "Buddy" aka known as "Lil Baby"
The family will receive friends on Sunday April 22, 2012 from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point, Va.
Funeral services officiated by Reverend Arthur L. Wolz, Jr. will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday April 23, 2012 at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Interment with Masonic rites will follow in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery, Gloucester, Va. In Jack's memory contributions may be sent to the American Heart Association, c/o Mrs. Joanne Gallagher, P. O. Box 43, Ware Neck, Virginia 23178 and/or Khedive Temple Shriners Transportation Fund, 645 Woodlake Dr. Chesapeake, VA 23320.
