Claude Baxter "C.B." Masters, 85, of Pickens, passed away on January 10, 2012.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late William Floyd and Martha Jane McCombs Masters.
C.B. retired as Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force after 23 years of service. He continued his work in meteorology with the National Weather Service until retirement.
He was a member of Pickens View Wesleyan Church.
C.B. loved his family, his flowers, life and humor. Most of all he loved the Lord.
Surviving are his wife, Geraldine Fortune Masters, of the home; his daughter, Martha Marie "Marti" (Harry) Masters Carter, of Douglasville, GA; his grandchildren, Shawn Carter; Casey (Miranda) Carter; Cassie Carter; and Isaac Carter; his great grandchildren, Alyssa Carter; Bryce Carter; Owyn Carter; and Anna Kate Carter; and his foster daughter, Shirley (David) Duncan, of Macon, GA.
In addition to his parents, C.B. was preceded in death by his first wife, Blanche Florene Hicks Masters; his daughter, Elizabeth Jane Masters Yates; his great grandson, Jackson Carter; his brothers, Larry Masters and Glazner Masters and his sister, Jon Mary Wade.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 3:00pm in the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 1 – 2:45pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pickens View Wesleyan Church, 744 Bethlehem Ridge Road, Pickens, SC 29671; or to Hephzibah Children's Home, 6601 Zebulon Road, Macon, GA 31220.
