Cliff was born in Atkinson, Nebraska to Glen and Ida Stoddard. He served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps during World War II where he was awarded 2 purple hearts for wounds sustained in combat in the Pacific. He also served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force. After being discharged from the service, he became a drywaller until he retired at age 65. He was a resident of Lancaster, Ca for 43 years.

Cliff was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Anna Mae Stoddard, his son James Wesley Stoddard, his grandson, USAF 1st Lieutenant Christopher Ian Stoddard, brothers Kenneth and Dwight Stoddard, and sisters Clyla Stoddard, Letha Kucera, and Betty Christensen.

He leaves behind his children: Patricia (Harold) Boggs, David (Rebecca) Stoddard, Clifford (Christina) Stoddard, Jr., Denese Stoddard, and Rudolph Stoddard, brother Glen H. Stoddard, sister Martha Grzebielski, grandchildren: Jodie Stoddard, Lindsay (Adam) Combs, Phyllis Boggs, Nicholas (Tami) Stoddard, David Stoddard, Joseph (Jennifer Alvarez) Stoddard, Alexander Stoddard, Michael Stoddard, Alexis Stoddard, Joy Angelique "Angel" Stoddard, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous extended relatives and friends whom all loved him dearly.
