Constance (Connie) Irene Andrews of Eclipse, Virginia, 66, left the Earth on Thursday, April 4th, to fly free without pain in a better place. Connie was preceded in death by her parents, George and Frances Andrews, and two brothers Donald and George. Connie was a talented photographer whose work is immortalized in several photo essays and The River Binds Us, A Story Told by the People of Crittenden, Eclipse, and Hobson. She also wrote several volumes of poetry including her latest, the prophetic The Journey: Help Me Get to Heaven. Connie loved traveling to the tropics, listening to good music, and going out on the river in her boat, but her favorite pastime was baking with her granddaughter Alyssa. We will all miss her fancy desserts and whimsical cupcakes. She leaves behind a large loving family and a multitude of friends, including her life partner, Cathy Newman Darden, with whom Connie enjoyed many adventures such as their beloved yearly trip to Key West. She also leaves behind two children, Richard Andrews and wife Kim, and Jennifer Andrews Shepherd and husband Jason; four grandchildren Alyssa, Wayne, Sophia, and Ethan; friends Cheryl Sawyer of Hobson, Jean Goodrich of Garland, Texas, and Angela Newman of Eclipse; and the grieving community of Eclipse in North Suffolk. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 from 6-9 PM at the C.E.H. Ruritans Hall on Eclipse Drive in North Suffolk. R. W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington Street, Suffolk, VA is serving the family. Condolences may be registered at www.rwbakerfh.com.
