Connie S. Gibson, 56, of Elkhart, died at 11:19 p.m. Thursday (July 23, 2009) at Memorial Hospital of South Bend. She was born Nov. 30, 1952, in Elkhart to Willard A. and Alice M. (Reed) Furney. She is survived by a longtime friend, Tim Hyser; two daughters, Christina (William) Dunmire and Tina (Jason) Gibson, both of Nappanee; three brothers, Tom (Sue) Hill of Union, Mich., Bruce (Mary) Furney of Warsaw and John (Rebecca) Furney of Elkhart; and eight grandchildren. One daughter, Jodi Gibson, preceded her in death. Ms. Gibson worked in sewing for A.M. Safe. She loved her family and was very involved with them. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home, 403 S. Franklin St., Elkhart. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Michael Quirey officiating. Burial will be at Stony Point Cemetery, Leesburg. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or to the Gibson family.
