With her sons and her best friend at her side, Corazon Siy Ramiro was delivered from this life into God's hands on Friday, February 4, 2011. She was 65 years old, a cancer survivor of over 20 years, a Navy wife and widow, a mother to four boys, a fixture in the local medical community and a woman of devout faith. If you were fortunate enough to have known her, you will remember her as a beautiful person of extraordinary perseverance, courage and strength. The fourth of ten children, Cora was born in Manila, Philippines to the late It and Rafaela Siy. After graduating from the University of Santo Tomas, she started a new life in the United States with the late Irineo (Ben) Ramiro. Together they proudly raised four sons: Marcelo, Anthony, Craig and Christopher. Cora spent the majority of her career at Eastern Virginia Medical School and devoted the entirety of her life to her family and to the Church. Her spirit and her will to live were beyond measure; she leaves this life as she lived it. Cora is survived by her four sons, five grandchildren: Merek Clifford, Dylan Ramiro, Evan Ramiro, Christian Ramiro and Carmen Ramiro, nine siblings: Rosario Siy, Rosalina Uy, Rita Siy, Reynaldo Siy, Antonio Siy, Helen Gronenthal, Cathryn Zulueta, John Siy and Rolando Siy, numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends. A wake service will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home (Lynnhaven Chapel) with a brief prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church on Thursday, February 10, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. with the burial immediately following at Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery. Friends are welcome to come, remember and celebrate Cora's remarkable life.
