Cordelia Massey Hancock, 95, passed away January 8, 2012. She was a native of Northampton County on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, and the wife of retired Wilmer James Hancock, Jr. She was a longtime member of Baylake United Methodist Church and the women's Beth Coverly Circle. Mrs. Hancock was active in the Hermitage Garden Club of Thoroughgood, Virginia Beach and enjoyed local Bridge "Club". She was a graduate of Franktown High School near Nassawaddox, Virginia and was preceded in death by her parents, Roxie Lola Massey and Edgar Lee Massey. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Wilmer J. Hancock, Jr.; and Mrs. Hancock leaves behind several nieces and nephews and many friends. A funeral will be conducted at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel Thursday at 11 a.m. with Dr. James Driscoll officiating. The burial will follow in Belle Haven Cemetery on the Eastern Shore and Doughty Funeral Home is in charge. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Bayside Lions Club, Baylake United Methodist Church or Alzheimer's Association.
