Dale Deeter

Easley – Dale Alan Deeter, 77, husband of Marge Bittner Deeter of Easley passed from this life Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at the Veterans Medical Center in Durham, NC.

Dale was born in Eaton, IN, a son of the late Clayton and Bessie Potter Deeter. He was a 1952 graduate of East Peoria Community High School and entered the United States Marine Corps where he served as a corporal in the Korean War from 1953 to 1956. Dale owned Mid State Scale Co. in East Peoria, IL for twenty years prior to moving to South Carolina in 1982. Here he continued his sales career working for fifteen years with Hoover Buildings where he retired in 2005. He was raised in the Christian Faith.

Dale loved boating, friends, family, working in his yard, and always made folks smile. He never met a stranger and he was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a son John McDonald of Marietta, SC, daughters, Patti Melvin (Ron) of Morton, IL, Denise McAvin (George) of Pekin, IL, Mary Vallas (Bob) and Kathy Lulay (Ed), both of East Peoria, IL, and Lori Short of the home. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Barbara Gossett of Danville, IL and a brother Walter Deeter of Morris, IL.

In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by a son Jim McDonald, grandchild Bernard Chase, great grandchild Caden Pennell and a brother Edsel Deeter.

A memorial service will be held 11 AM Tuesday, January 31, 2012 in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens with The Reverend Rick Hayes officiating.
