DALE C. DONNER was born Jan 28, 1933 to Charles and Lillie Larsen Donner in Blanchard, N.D. Dale grew up in Gascoyne and Hettinger. In 1946 they moved to the farm south of Regent where he resided until his death.
Dale went to school through the 5th grade in Gascoyne, 6th grade in Hettinger and then 7th-12th in Regent, graduating in 1952. At age 15 he was stricken with Polio and spent one year in the hospital where doctors first told his parents that he wouldn't survive, then that he wouldn't walk, and finally, that he wouldn't have kids.
After graduation, Dale attended N.D. State School of Science where he graduated with a degree in General Mechanics and Welding. Dale met his wife to be, Sally Ann Kline at this time in his life. They were married on June 15th, 1955 in Breckenridge, MN. To this union 5 children were born; Brian, Laurie, Duane, Timothy and Bernie.
Dale and Sally made their home on the farm south of Regent where he did whatever it took to provide for his family, other than charity, food stamps and welfare. Dale's work titles throughout the years included farmer, dairy man, trucker, brand inspector and entrepreneur.
In addition to caring for the needs of his family he found time to serve as President of his church council for many years. Dale was also active in the N.D. Stockman's Association, county zoning committee and Regent Fire Department.
Dale's hobbies were numerous from hunting & fishing, building wagons, boating and working with horses. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, he was very proud of his grandchildren.
On August 14th, 2013 Dale was diagnosed with cancer, for the next 5 ½ weeks he made the most of his remaining days with family and friends. Dale had a strong belief in God and was truly prepared to go to his Heavenly Home. Dale passed from this life on September 21st, 2013 at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger with his family at his side.
Dale will be deeply missed by his surviving family; wife Sally of Regent; daughter, Laurie Donner, of Regent; sons, Duane (Jayne) Donner, Litchfield Park, AZ and Bernie (Dawne) Donner, Morristown, SD; grandchildren; Levi (Jennifer), Amanda, Shilo, Sage and Jamie along with 2 great-grand daughters; Hailey and Kelsey; four brothers, Dalhart (Eva) Donner, Clifton, TX, Curtis (Marcy) Donner, New Salem, ND, Lee (Leeanne) Donner, Clifton, TX and Howard (Diane) Donner, Dennison, TX.
