Dan Lynn Hewes, 59, resident of Albuquerque for 20 years, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2011 after a brief illness. Dan is survived by his wife, Cheryl Ann Wilson; two sons, Reed and Bryant Hewes; brother, Ted R. Hewes of Pena Blanca; niece, Kristina Wentworth of Gearhart, OR; great-nieces and nephew, Deedi (Dowie), Kainlyn, Lilly and Braden, and many other beloved friends and family. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Jennie Hewes, and sister, Donna. Dan was born in El Paso, TX on September 1, 1952. He attended Austin High School, followed by several years of employment at the University of Texas - El Paso Physical Plant. Dan married Cheryl Ann Wilson on November 6, 1976 in Ponca City, OK. Dan and Cheryl had the joy of renewing their vows on November 21, 2011, with their sons, family and friends present. Dan and Cheryl moved to Albuquerque in 1991, where Dan became employed at the University of New Mexico Ford Utilities Center. Dan remained employed there until his death. He loved his family and friends, his flowers and plants, riding his motorcycles, and most of all, sharing his love of life with all that knew him. His smile and laughter will always be remembered. The family wishes to thank Dr. Temmar and Lovelace Medical Center ICU for their compassion. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary - University Chapel, with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. A reception will follow.
