Daniel Jouvenal Konzelmann, 45, died suddenly at his home in Hot Springs, Arkansas on Monday, November 28, 2011.
He was born May 5, 1966, in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Henry Joseph and Suzanne Hennessy Konzelmann.
Dr. Konzelmann earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Illinois University in 1988 and a Doctor of Medicine from Southern Illinois University in 1992. He completed a five year pathology residency at Baylor University Hospital in Dallas, Texas in 1997 followed by Forensic Pathology training under the auspices of the University of Arkansas at the Arkansas State Crime Lab.
Daniel was employed by the Crime Lab in Fort Worth, Texas as a Forensic Pathologist for six years until 2005. In 2005 he returned to his beloved Arkansas where he proudly became a Forensic Pathologist for the Arkansas State Crime Lab in Little Rock. His sudden death interrupted the work he so loved.
Dan took great pride in being made an "Arkansas Traveler" in 1998. In 2001 Daniel became Board Certified as a Forensic Pathologist.
Dan is survived by his mother Suzanne of Tampa, Florida, three sisters and three brothers. John N. Konzelmann of Tampa, FL, Henry and Robert Konzelmann of Illinois, Suzanne Konzelmann Davies of Cambridge, England, Kathleen Konzelmann Toth of Tampa, FL, and Agnes Konzelmann Becker of Breese, IL. "Uncle Dan" leaves behind many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Dan's body will lay in state at the Gross Funeral Home, in Hot Springs, until 10 am Saturday, December 3rd, 2011 and visitation will begin at 5:30pm Friday, December 2nd, with a Rosary service being at 7:30pm. The rosary service will be led by Dan's cousin, Fr. Daniel J. Hennessy. Rev. Father James West and Rev. Daniel J. Hennessy will concelebrate the funeral Mass on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Hot Springs, Arkansas. Interment will be at the Crestview Cemetery in Hot Springs, Arkansas. In lieu of sending flowers for Dan, please donate to the American Heart Association or National Rifle Association.
