Darrin Fitzpatrick, age 45, a resident of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, died Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls following a courageous battle with cancer. Darrin Keith Fitzpatrick was born January 27, 1966, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Terry and Lynne (Ekholm) Fitzpatrick. He was baptized March 20, 1966, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Darrin attended school in Minneapolis and Pelican Rapids; graduating from Pelican Rapids High School in 1984. During his school years, Darrin worked at the family-owned Oak Lodge Resort on North Lida Lake. He graduated from Wahpeton State School of Science as a machinist in 1986. He worked at Audubon Engineering for the last 25 years. Darrin spent the last 15 months living with his father on South Lida. Darrin enjoyed spending time on South Lida. He liked deer hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and he especially loved going on the annual fishing trips to Canada. Darrin was devoted to his nieces and nephews. He is survived by his father, Terry Fitzpatrick, Pelican Rapids, MN; sister, Kathy (Glen) Lewis, Maple Grove, MN; nieces and nephews: Nina Lewis, Reed Lewis, Katie Hering, and Terry Hering; uncle, Dave (Sandy) Ekholm, Bloomington, MN; aunt, Patty (Wally) Pearson, Fergus Falls, MN; cousins: Steven Ekholm, Daniel (Phetsamone) Ekholm, Kristi (Kenn) Edman, Keith (Michelle) Pearson, and Kevin (Laura) Pearson. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lynne Fitzpatrick; and brother, Michael. Blessed Be The Memory Of Darrin Fitzpatrick.
