Mundwiler Funeral Home
Darwin Conrad, age 58 of Milbank died April 24, 2013, at the Milbank Area Hospital–Avera Health. Funeral services will be Monday, April 29th at 2:30 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church in Milbank. Rev. Andrew Bartel and Rev. Beth Smart will officiate. Burial will be in the Milbank Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday at Mundwiler Funeral Home from 5 – 7 p.m. and continue at the church on Monday, one hour prior to the service. Casket bearers will be: Wayne Fritz, Greg Buchele, Larry Buchele, Mark Heyde, Greg Streich, Scott Schneider, Arnie Kirchberg, and Tom Price. The vocalist will be Amy Thue and Janet Liebe will be the organist. Darwin Lynn Conrad was born September 4, 1954, in Milbank, SD. He was the son of Arthur and Mildred (Anderson) Conrad. Darwin grew up in Milbank and graduated from Milbank High School with the Class of 1973. He worked at Hunter Granite Quarry before college. He graduated from Northern State University with a Bachelor Degree in education. Darwin was united in marriage with Linda M. Hoch on August 21, 1976, at Central United Methodist Church in Milbank. Darwin and Linda lived a short time in Grand Forks, ND then returned to Milbank. Darwin worked at Flanery Meats and later Valley Office Products before working as the Director of Equalization for Grant County. Darwin was a member of Central United Methodist Church. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball, racket ball, and golf. Darwin enjoyed hunting with his sons and watched their sporting events with pride. Darwin Conrad is survived by his wife, Linda of Milbank, SD; two sons: Eric (Lindsay) Conrad of Clark, SD and Ryan Conrad of Milbank, SD; his mother-in-law, Regina Hoch of Henry, SD; one brother, Arlen (Cheryl) Conrad of Milbank, SD and sister-in-law, Beth (Tim) Smart of Milbank, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law, and one brother, Arvin.
