David A. “Allen” Davenport, 68, passed away Nov. 11, 2009, (Veterans Day). Survived by sons, Troy (Mary) Davenport and Kris (Kim) Davenport; daughter, Lisa (Martin) Atteberry; grandchildren, Joshua (Keli), Samantha, Kristy, Ashlie, Bradey, Colton and Jarett; and aunt, Ella Mae (Earl) Mead; as well as a number of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, David E. Davenport and Anna A. (Smith) Hall; and brother, Tom Davenport. He was born February 11, 1941, in Pueblo. Dave was a retired Senior Chief Petty Officer having served 42 years in the US Navy. He was most proud of his military service and was very patriotic. He enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow military servicemen and women at the American Legion Post #2 Pueblo and The Retired Enlisted Association, Chapter 20, Pueblo, Colo. At his request there will be no viewing. Funeral service, 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Rick Calhoun officiating. Military honors by Pueblo Veterans’ Ritual Team and interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of food or flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Wounded Warrior Project through Montgomery & Steward Funeral Directors, 1317 N. Main St., Pueblo, Colo. 81003.
