David A. Owen, age 57, of Olivet, died at his home April 12, 2007. David was born April 24, 1949 in Saginaw to Morris E. and Dorothy V. (Weighman) Owen. He grew up in Saginaw, graduating from Saginaw’s Arthur Hill High School in 1967. In 1968, Dave entered the U.S. Army. He served two tours of duty in Viet Nam, as well as his being based in Germany before his honorable discharge in 1973. Dave was married to Linda Ott on April 26, 1975. Their marriage later ended in divorce. He lived in Kalamazoo for a number of years until moving to Olivet twelve years ago. He worked as a Claims Adjuster for State Farm Insurance , and did major disaster work including Hurricane Andrew, for them. Later Dave worked at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo until ill health forced his retirement in the early 2000’s. In 1987 he met Linda Mahrle, and the couple became happy soul mates. Linda preceded Dave in death on January 24 of this year. Dave was a past Veterans Of Foreign Wars member. He had been a member of St.Mary Catholic Church, where he sang in the choir with Linda. He enjoyed camping, fishing and woodworking. Dave is survived by his son, Scott A. Owen of Kalamazoo; his parents, Morris and Dorothy Owen and his brother, George Owen all of Saginaw. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 18, at 1:30PM at Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home with Rev. James Barrett officiating. Committal will follow in Lyon Lake Cemetery with military honors by the U.S. Army. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to Gift From Within, 16 Cobb Hill Road, Camden, Maine 04843.
