David L. Brodjeski of 719 N 6th Avenue in Wausau passed away on July 20, 2012 at home surrounded by the comfort of his loving family. He was born in Wausau on November 1, 1944 to Leo and Balbena (Brzezinski) Brodjeski. A Vietnam veteran, Dave joined the Marine Corp at age 17 and served his country honorably from 1962 – 1966. He married his childhood sweetheart, Judy (Van Sleet) on July 23, 1966. Dave worked at Wausau Papers for 40 years, a specialized operator of the embosser, retiring at the age of 62. Dave was a man of few words, but his love for his family spoke volumes. He is survived by his wife, Judy; daughters Rebecca Brodjeski (Jeff) Wausau; Tina Hynes (Jeff) of Chicago, IL; and Sara Cattelan (Fred) Ironwood, MI; three grandchildren, Madison, Cooper, and Kendall. Two brothers, Ronald and Chester Brodjeski, five sisters, Theresa Tulickas, Leona Hart, Delores Walters, Jean Kudronowicz and Shirley Fosbender. He was proceeded in death by his parents, two brothers, Felix and Clarence Brodjeski, one sister, Emily Pochinski. Dave suffered for many years from COPD and Lung Cancer. It was a devastating disease, but you would never hear him complain. He was a brave, brave soldier and fought for every breath he took. His legacy of courage and perseverance will live in the hearts of his loving family. A special thank you to the wonderful members of Hospice, especially our nurse Dawn G. A Celebration of his life will be at Helke Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 25, 2012. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 6pm with a memorial service beginning at 6:00 pm. with full military honors to follow the service. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.
