OBITUARY

THE REV. CANON DAVID CHARLES LORD

The Rev. Canon David Charles Lord, 82, died on August 27th, 2009, at his home in Winter Park, Fl. He had recently moved from his previous home of 29 years in Vero Beach, Fl. He was born on November 14th 1926 in Danbury, Connecticut. David was a Veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was married to his beloved wife, Julie, for sixty years.

David was a Certified Public Accountant in Maryland, before entering a vocation as an Episcopal Priest. In 1962, he graduated from Episcopal Theological Seminary in Cambridge Mass., and went on to serve as Canon to the Ordinary for the Bishop at Washington National Cathedral. He then became the founding Rector of St. James Episcopal Church in Potomac, Maryland. In 1980 he became rector of Trinity Episcopal Church in Vero Beach, Florida. He went on to become Interim Dean of St. Luke’s Cathedral, in Orlando, Fl. and, after retirement, served as an interim priest in many parishes in the Diocese of Central Florida. He was an active member of Rotary, and a Paul Harris Fellow.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Lord, their twin sons and their spouses, The Rev. Dr. Robert Lord and Nancy of Winter Park, FL and The Rev. Richard Lord and Debbie of Vienna, VA. There are also five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He loved his family with grace, courage, and faithfulness.

There will be a memorial service and reception held on Tuesday, September 1st, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, Vero Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in David’s memory to Trinity Church, 2365 Pine Avenue Vero Beach, FL 32960
