David K. Hamilton, age 64, of Overland Park, KS passed away on Friday, November 4, 2011. He was born on March 22, 1947 in Canton, Ohio, the son of Wauneta (Harmon) and Paul Hamilton. David attended Northern Illinois University, graduating with a degree in accounting. David, his first wife Marti and their family lived in Illinois and relocated to KS; she preceded him in death in 1995. David was the owner of his own accounting firm for 8 years. Some of David's passions were his family, golf, going to the Indy 500, skeet shooting, the holidays, his profession and living life to it's fullest. He was very proud of his military service to the country as a Green Beret in the Army. David will be missed dearly by his family, friends and everyone that knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Denice (Ibarra) Hamilton; sons, Brad (Laura) and Brian (Monica) Hamilton, Brice (Carrie) Shockley, Chris Shockley; daughter, Cathy (Mike) Hamilton-Quinlan; grandchildren, Megan, Danny and Katie Quinlan, Hudson Hamilton, Logan, Corbin, Blake, Devin Shockley; one sister, Sandra (Rannie) Hendrix and numerous family members.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Lenexa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of David K. Hamilton, to the Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Ave, Bethpage, NY 11714, to advance the research of pancreatic cancer. www.lustgarten.org.
