David J. Perkins

David J. Perkins Utica, NY/Youngstown, OH David J. Perkins, 69 of Utica, NY and formerly of Youngstown, Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2012 after a long illness at Faxton St. Luke's Health Care in New Hartford, NY, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on August 14, 1942 in Youngstown, OH a son of the late Estabrook and Ophelia (Worth) Perkins. Mr. Perkins was employed with the Youngstown Airport has a Maintenance Supervisor. He also was employed at one time with Youngstown Sheet & Tube Company. After moving to the Utica, NY area to be with his children he accepted a position with the Rome School District, prior to his retirement. Mr. Perkins served as Governor of the Moose lodge in Escondido, CA, and also as the Regional President of the Moose Lodge in California. He loved traveling especially to Las Vegas; he was an avid fisherman who loved fishing at the Mill Creek Park and also on Lake Erie. He enjoyed playing Bingo, but was at his happiest when spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his children Allison Perkins and her companon Michael Loomis of Westmoreland, NY, Cindy Cook and her husband Mark of Tustin, CA, Patricia Muffo and her companion Steve Sharpe of Utica, NY and Bonnie Lopata and her husband John of Whitesboro, NY. He also leaves 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild, he leaves a sister Irene Romero of NJ, also many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a granddaughter Nicole Gagnon, a sister Omega McElroy, and two brothers, George and Emmanuel Perkins. He family wishes to sincerely thank the staff of the 6th floor at Faxton St.Luke's Health Care that cared for David during his illness, your kindness, caring and compassion will never be forgotten. Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. There will be no public calling hours.
