David M. Cook, age 61, of Akron, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2009 following an extended illness. He was born in Canton on December 29, 1947 to the late Ballard and Azalee Cook and was a 1965 graduate of Canton McKinley High School. David was employed as a supervisor with the United States Post Office for 28 years. He was a member of Peoples Baptist Church and CORE, Congress Of Racial Equality. He was very active in Corporate Challenges and enjoyed sailing, biking and running. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Ida Lois Inman; brother Charlene Cook; sister Blondell Ross; and brother Ballard Cook Jr. Survivors include his three children, Rawlyn (Leticia) Cook of North Canton, Shea-Michael Cook of Toledo, OH and Tara Speck of Akron; grandchildren Jada and Anissa Cook; his brother Theodus Cook of Los Angelas, CA; sister Phyllis (Hubbard) May of Canton; his aunt Elnora Jones of Arkansas; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11am in Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 1909 3rd St. NE Canton, OH 44704, with Pastor Dwayne Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6-8pm in the Reed Funeral Home North Canton Chapel, 801 Pittsburg Ave. NW, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday from 10-11am in the church. Family and friends will be received at Rawlyn Cook's home, 3564 Baron St. NW North Canton, OH 44720.
