David Peery Baker passed away Jan. 14, 2012, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital after a long illness. Born Sept. 9, 1937 in Norfolk County and attended Great Bridge High School. Preceded in death by his wife, June Kathleen Baker; his mother, Madge Cook Baker; father, Robert Lindsay Baker; and brother, Robert Lindsay Baker, Jr. He leaves behind brothers, Willard R. Baker and wife Paula of Sequim, WA, W. Thompson Baker of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Madge "Margie" Baker Dowe of Virginia Beach, VA; nieces, Francine Baker of Charlotte, NC and Jennifer D. Lynch of Essex Junction, VT; and nephews, Charles L. Dowe of Clarksville, AR and W. Thompson Baker, Jr. of Charlotte, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Sandbridge Rescue Squad, 305 Sandbridge Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23456 or Sandbridge Community Chapel U.M.C., 3041 Sandpiper Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23456. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at Sandbridge Community Chapel at 3 p.m. with Rev. Frank Holley officiating.
