Mr. David Swedling

My son, David and I had the privilege of "reconnecting" with Bob and Dee during the last couple of years. David received a fly fishing lesson or two and we enjoyed an excursion to Oakridge and Salt Creek. Many years ago, Bob was a frequent visitor to our newly acquired acreage up on Bald Peak, near Newberg, Oregon. Bob, my grandmother, Evelyn Lawrensen and her brother, Hallie Peterson and my mother, Eileen Pollard spent many weekends with my husband, Mark and me and my brother, Richard Pollard and sister, Linda O'Neill clearing our land and preparing a pasture area for planting and fencing. I can still see them picking up rocks and sticks from the area. I will treasure those memories. Cris (Pollard) Banton.

This is my favorite picture of David and Dee. I think that their love story is very romantic and wonderful. David loved her and had the chance to spend many wonderful years together.

He reminded me of Einstein, He was the smartest guy I knew. I loved listening to his stories, especially the ones about the dolophins that he thought were missiles back in the war. I loved the day we went to the rock quarry at the foot of Diamond Peak. It was so much fun, a great day.

I will never eat Pumpkin Pie again with out thinking of Bob. He loved Pumpkin Pie and I loved the way he said it. Like... PunkinPie... I loved him.

This is a memory of Eileen Pollards:

I remember Bob (as we called him up in Wendling Oregon) heading up the creek in the evening to go fishing with his fishing pole over his shoulder. I was sitting on the swing. He would have been about 13 years old at the time. He loved to fish. Then about dusk he would come back home with a stringer full of fish for dinner.
