David T. Blackney, age 61 of Claymont, DE, longtime resident of High Point, NC died on Oct.11, 2013 in Wilmington, DE

Dave was a graduate of Claymont HS and prided himself on becoming an allstar athlete. He was a graduate of University of Delaware. Dave taught and coached for 30 years at Ferndale Middle School and Ledford Middle School in High Point, NC. He had a passion for teaching youg students and was good at it. Dave's love for his family and friends was expressed by his joy in creating parodies to popular songs in their honor.

Dave was predeceased by his parents Marita and Neale Blackney. He is survived by his loving wife Kathy Blackney and his brothers and sisters; Pattie Painter, Michael Blackney, Brian Blackney, Kevin Blackney, Terry Blackney,Colleen Blackney, Jeff Blackney and the late Rick Blackney. He is also survived by many in-laws and nieces and nephews.

A Mass will be offered at Holy Rosary Church 3200 Philadelphia Pike Claymont DE on Thurs. Oct 17 at 11AM. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Church from 10AM until time of Mass. Interment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rockwood Museum 610 Shipley Rd. Wilmington, DE 19809.
