David Joseph Tamboli, age 70, was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, January 16, 2011 surrounded by his loving family and friends after a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease). He was a man of deep faith whose grace & dignity while facing this disease was an inspiration to all who love him. He was born on February 28, 1940 in Milwaukee to Guido and Ione (Scafasci) Tamboli. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1958. David enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country until 1961. He then lived and worked in Milwaukee where he met his beloved DonnaLee Schmitt. They were married on May 18, 1963 in Milwaukee. In 1976 Dave and family moved to Sun Prairie and he founded Blue Ribbon Tank in Beaver Dam and retired in 2006. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter. He also played in a dartball league for several years.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 48 years; his sons David (Addie) of Portage, Michael (Stacy) of Sun Prairie, a daughter Suzanne (Jerry) Harbort of Sun Prairie; 6 grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Brandon Harbort, Anna and Vinny Tamboli, Emily and Joseph Tamboli; 2 sisters, Mary (Carlo) Emanuele of Milwaukee, Barbara (James) Vitrano of Sussex and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph; his parents; and mother and father-in-law; Bernice and Leonard Schmitt
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 21, 2010 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt presiding. Burial will be in Sacred Hearts Cemetery where gravesite military honors will be held. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie and from 10:00 a,m. until the time of service at the church on Friday.
The family would like to thank Msgr. Duane Moellenberndt for his spiritual quidance and friendship. They would also like to extend thanks to Dr. Paul Schmidt, Southern Care Hospice, Home instead, Home health United and to all of our friends and family who offered prayers and support throughout this difficult journey. The family suggest in lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.
The truest measure of a man is how tall he stands in the eyes of his grandkids.
