Delong Orcutt (Bud) Kellogg, 91, of Naples, FL and Mahopac, NY died on Feb. 12
Bud was the son of Carll and Sara Kellogg, husband of 34 years to Virginia, brother of Janet Johnson, the father of Jeffrey (Cheryl) and David (Susan) and three stepsons Brian, Fred and James. His oldest son, Thomas (Kay) predeceased him, as did his first wife, Elizabeth. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Peter, Jessica, Ryan, Julie , Alison and Grace and six great-grandchildren. He was born on April 26, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Mahopac shortly after his birth. He graduated high school from Salisbury School in Salisbury,Ct. and then went on to St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. He served in World War II between 1942 and 1945 as a Navy pilot and then returned to St. Lawrence to complete his education. He met his first wife Elizabeth, (Betty) at St. Lawrence and they married in 1945. They were married for 33 years until her death in 1977. After the war, Bud and Betty settled in Mahopac and opened " Tom Kat Sporting Goods" a retail store and was in business for 43 years. He was also very active in his community, participating in Rotary International, Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts, served on the Mahopac school board, member and former president of the Putnam Hospital Center Board of Directors and active in his church, the Church of the Holy Communion in Mahopac. He was an active member of the Mahopac Golf Club. After his retirement, Bud volunteered at Naples Community Hospital for 15 years. He also enjoyed his membership at Imperial Golf Club. Bud's greatest love was his family. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He will be sorely missed by family and friends. A memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church on Bonita Beach Rd. on Mon., Feb. 18 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Putnam Hospital Center Foundation, 670 Stoneleigh Ave., Carmel, NY or a charity of your choice.
