Dean Michael Elzeer, 90, of Norwood Drive passed away on Monday, February 16, 2009 at the Hospice Unit of Ashtabula County Medical Center
He was born March 10, 1918, the son of John and Pearl (Phillips) Elzeer and had been a lifelong Ashtabula resident, graduating from Ashtabula High School.
Prior to his retirement, he worked as a maintenance man for the Ashtabula Metropolitan Housing Authority and previously worked in construction.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II.
Meticulous about how his property looked, Mr. Elzeer loved to work and keep busy and enjoyed his home, yard, and family.
His survivors include his wife, Eva (Butler), whom he married September 16, 1950; two daughters, Mary Kay (Lloyd) Baylor of Ashtabula and Arlene Carducci of Conneaut; 5 grandchildren, Dean, Jeff, and Dan (Lori) Baylor, April (Tom) Pulvino, and Nadine Hagoort; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, John (Nancy) Elzeer of Ashtabula; and one sister, Martha (David) Strong of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Shelly Carducci; and his parents.
A service will be held 11 AM on Friday, February 20, 2009 at the Zaback-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula with full military honors provided by the American Legion Post #103. Fr. Joseph Ruggieri will preside. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
I accordance with Dean’s wishes, no public calling hours will be held.
