Deanna Lucille Stensland, 69, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Saturday, December 18, 2010, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 23, 2010, at United Church of Christ, Reinbeck Iowa, with Rev. Joel Love officiating. Burial will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2010, French Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck. A memorial fund has been established. Deanna was born on June 28, 1941 in Tama, Iowa, to her proud parents Vernon and Alice (Klenk) Delfs. She grew up in the Gladbrook area. Deanna graduated from Gladbrook High School with the Class of 1959.After high school she worked in the office for Lennox Industries. She later worked in Dubuque for Durrant and Bergguist Architecture in office. Deanna and Wallace Stensland were united in marriage at Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook on December 30, 1961. After they were married Deanna traveled with Wally with his job with the state. In 1963 they made their home on a farm west of Reinbeck. Deanna helped Wally on the farm with field work and was a homemaker. Deanna loved to cook, read, walk and spend time with her daughter and son-in-law and grandsons. Deanna was a devoted member of the Union Congregational United Church of Christ. Deanna's family remembers her as a strong, loving and wonderful mother. She will be missed and long remembered by her friends and family. Deanna is survived by her husband Wally; her daughter, Deborah (Loren) Aalfs of Cedar Falls, IA; her grandsons, Tyler and Quinn Aalfs. She is preceded in death by her parents.
