Delbert B. Burger, 92, of LaPorte, Indiana, passed Tuesday September 28, 2010 at La Porte Hospital He was born September 30, 1917 in North Liberty, Indiana, the son of Martin Burger and Dora (Hoover) Burger. Delbert was a farmer and also worked as a school bus driver for the LaPorte Community Schools for twenty-four years. He was a member of North Liberty Church of Christ North Liberty, IN, past member of the Stillwell Lion's Club. He was a loving father, enjoyed life to the fullest and spent most of the winter months in Florida enjoying fishing and playing cards. Delbert always had a garden, until one year ago. We are most grateful for my father's dedication to his loving wife at the LaPorte Hospital. On April 12, 1941, in Lakeville, IN, he married Doris (Hoover) Burger who survives. He is also survived by his two daughters - Denise Burger of La Porte, IN, Debra Plank of La Porte, IN; son - Donald (Sherry) Burger of Orlando, FL; six grandchildren - Tina Burger of FL, Jenny Salat of La Porte, IN, Christine Calvert of La Porte, IN, Jeff Plank of La Porte, IN, Brian Burger of FL, Darrin Burger of FL; four great-grandchildren. Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, son, Dean Burger, infant son, Ronald Burger; and one sister, Thelma Holdeman and one brother, Darrel Burger. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Friday, October 1, 2010 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm CST & at the North Liberty Church of Christ on Saturday, October 2, 2010 from 9:00 am EST until time of service. Services will be held at North Liberty Church of Christ, Saturday October 2, 2010 at 10:00 AM EST with Rev. Tim Stewart, officiating. Interment will follow at the Fair Cemetery, North Liberty, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the LaPorte Hospital 6th Floor Activities Department or Alzheimer's Association 50 E. 91st St. STE 100 Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830.
