Odell (Dell) M. Boberg, 84, Moorhead, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 5, 2013. Dell was born on August 10, 1928, to Carl and Helen (Berg) Boberg in Borup, MN. One of four children, the family later moved to a farm just outside of Twin Valley, MN. After serving in Korea as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army from 1951 to 1953, Dell returned to marry Ramona (Mona) Heiraas on July 24, 1953. They had three children and Dell's Garage was the place everyone not only brought their cars, trucks and buses but also anything else that wasn't working. "If you can't fix it, to Dell with it" summed up Dell's crack mechanic skills. At various times in Twin Valley, Dell was also Fire Chief, Civil Defense Director, substitute mailman, and ambulance driver. Dell also had a beautiful voice, loved to sing and was often asked to perform for local functions. Dell was a Past Master of the Order of the Freemasons and was a member of the American Legion. His greatest passion apart from his family was flying since the age of 19. Many Sunday afternoons were spent taking the family flying. The family moved to Moorhead in 1966 when Dell was hired by SilverLine Boats to set up their trucking department. In 1968, he joined Anderson Pontiac (now Sellands) where he was a salesman until he retired in 1997. Dell thoroughly enjoyed golfing and fishing. The "place at the lake" on Upper Cormorant was the source of much joy and great memories for the entire family. Dell was such a positive force in the lives of so many as he led his own full and interesting life. Dell liked to say "Take what you are doing very serious, but don't take yourself so serious that you can't enjoy life." And enjoy life he did. He had many jokes and stories that he loved to share with anyone who would listen. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mona; his children, Denise (EJ) Liotta of Lincroft, NJ, Kristi (Richard) Kittilstved of Westfield, IN, and James (Wendy) Boberg of Fargo; his grandchildren Alison (Bryce) Davis, Andrew Cusick, and Dell Liotta; Jennifer (Michael) Canavan, and Amy & Alyssa Kittilstved; Matthew, Sam & Hannah Boberg and their mother, Jana Boberg; his great-grandchildren Evelyn Davis; and Madigan, Emlyn & Brennan Canavan; his sisters Myrtle Nysetvold of Twin Valley and Betty Westby of Virginia, MN. Dell is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Carlyle Boberg. A service in celebration of Dell's life will be held Tuesday, April 9 at 11:00 am at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1900 14th Street South, Moorhead. Visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 Monday evening at Wright Funeral Home, 605 Second Avenue South, Moorhead.
