Dember F. Bonds, Jr. was born in Iuka, Mississippi on November 27, 1942 to the late Dember F. Bonds, Sr. and the late Louise French Bonds. His family moved from Mississippi to Indiana in 1942. At the age of 10, he was baptized at the St. John's Catholic Church in Evansville, Indiana by Monsignor Moose. The family moved again to St. Louis, Missouri in 1960 where he lived until he was called home to the Lord on Friday, January 20, 2012. He graduated from Mater Dei High School in 1960 in Evansville, Indiana. After graduation, he entered the police academy and served in the 9th District for the city of St. Louis Police Department. He later became a detective for the St. Louis City PD Headquarters location and retired after 13 and half years of service. He began his security career at the General Motors Assembly Plant in St. Louis, Missouri where he was head of security. In 2007, Dember retired from Anheuser-Busch as "Watch Commander". He proudly served in law enforcement for over 45 years. Dember's vibrant smile lit up a room and he had an exuberant lifestyle. In his 50 year class reunion book, he summed up his favorite hobbies/pastimes as being his children, grandchildren, car racing, sports of all kind, and loved being around his family. He also loved his sister Shirley's "smothered pork chops". He will truly be missed but our favorite saying to get us through is "Thy Will Be Done, Lord". Dember is preceded in death by his parents, Dember and Louis Bonds, and his brother, Clifford Warren Bonds. Dember leaves to celebrate his going home, his sister, Shirley (William) Hairston of Columbus, OH; his three daughters, Bridgette Lynette(Bruce) Hatton of St. Louis, MO, Ingrid Renee(Federico) Bonds-Gonzalez of Queens, NY, and Erika Danielle (Clark Mann) Bonds of St. Louis, MO; three grandchildren: Bryce Joseph Hatton, Brenen Curtis Hatton, and Stella Dominique Mann; and a host of aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends that were very dear and supportive during his illness. This Online Memorial has been created to commemorate the life of Dember Bonds. You are invited to add a Tribute in his memory.
