Demetrio Lopez Rios, 84, of Hightstown, passed away Friday in Centra State Medical Center in Freehold.
Born in Puerto Rico, he has resided in Hightstown for most of his life and was a member of St. Anthony of Padua RC Church.
He was a machine operator and warehouseman at Phillips Lighting (Norelco) in Hightstown and Dayton, and was manager of the Spanish baseball team, Los Lobos.
Predeceased by his wife Irma Crespo in 1981, and his grandson Thomas Navarro in 1983, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Ida and Ben Navarro of Hightstown, and Miriam and Steven Fostek of Jackson; his son and daughter-in-law, Jose D. and Christine C. Lopez of Florence; his brother, Manola Lopez of Freehold; his grandchildren, Lisa Mangin, John, Michael, Robert, Marc and Andrew Navarro, Jose Jr., Sandy Lee, Joseph, Carlos and Julie Lopez, Victoria LaSane, Steven, Jr. and Christopher Fostek, and Jonathan Malave; and 19 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will begin 9:30am Tuesday at the Glackin/Saul Funeral Home, 136 Morrison Ave., Hightstown, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30am at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church, 251 Franklin St., Hightstown, NJ.
Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hightstown, NJ.
