Derrell Dean "D.D." McCowen, of Little Rock, a local businessman, friend and beloved family member passed away December 22, 2011. D.D. was born to Tollie Curtis and Gladys McCowen on February 24, 1933. He was the oldest of six children Norma Jean, Bruce, Mae, Faye and Sue.
D.D. lived a long and productive life starting his business McCowen's Top Soil in 1959. He was an avid fisherman and hunter until he could physically no longer enjoy it.
D.D. is survived by his wife of 59 years, Maxine Mildred McCowen, two sons Randy and his wife Sandy and Ricky and his wife Lori; five grandchildren Kara Deane, Aaron Curtis, Courtney, Kelsey and Kaleigh; four great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral Services will be on Saturday, December 24th, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. at McGhee Cemetery in Perry Arkansas.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, December 23rd, at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills, 10200 Hwy 5 North, Alexander, AR 72002 (501)455-1067
