Derrick S. Harris was born on August 15, 1959 in St. Louis, Missouri. Derrick was the first-born son of the late Gladys Alexander, whom he cherished with all his heart. Derrick gave his life to Christ at an early age. He attended Beaumont High School Class of 1977; he was an active alumnus until his recent home going. Derrick was a photographer and music lover at heart. He recorded his life, family, and friends in pictures and songs. A steadfast friend to all who knew him. He touched many lives with his love, strength, and generosity. An employee of Metro Transit for 18 years. His passengers and co-workers were special in his eyes. He was an active member of the A.T.U. and an avid bowler. His competitive spirit knew no bounds. No matter the occasion his advice was always, the same "Get in where you fit in." On September 1, 2009, Derrick was called home to be with his Lord. He stepped from this world into the arms of his loving and cherished mother, Gladys. Derrick's life was full of love, laughter, family and friends. Derrick leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, Crystal N. Harris, and Brandy M. Harris, of St. Louis, Missouri; two brothers, Gerrod (Betty) Harris of Nashville, Tennessee, and Warren Alexander of O'Fallon, Missouri; three aunts, Karen Jones, Sandra Jacobs, and Sharon Jacobs; six grandchildren, Anquinea R. Harris, Brandyn Derrick D. Harris, Cyerra N. Caldwell, Tyerra M. Caldwell, Charne' A. McMillian, and Creston McMillan; his girl friend, Lisa Bagnerise, and a host of extended family and friends. He will be remembered and missed by many, but please don't grieve too long. Just remember what Derrick often said "The Beat Goes On."
