Dexter James Kline, 29, Overland Park, KS, passed away on December 21, 2011. Born March 27, 1982 in Iowa City, Iowa, he moved with his family to Overland Park at the age of 5. Dexter graduated from Blue Valley North High School in 2000 and earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with an emphasis in Actuarial Science from Washburn University, Topeka, KS, in 2005. Dexter was employed by the State Department of Insurance in Topeka, Kansas until he moved to Dallas to work for Transamerica Life. He recently returned to Overland Park to work for Design Evolution Group (DEG).
Dexter was a loving and beloved son, brother, great-grandson, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend to many. He loved learning math and science and was proud to accumulate knowledge. He was passionate about computer and video game programming and playing video games with his brothers and friends. He loved Star Wars, enjoyed tinkering with electronics, relaxing with his family, and joking around with his friends. He will be missed by his pet cats Zero and Szechuan.
Dexter 's loss is mourned by his survivors: mother, Dora K. Skelton; father James M. Kline; stepfather Brad Skelton; stepmother Kim Kline; grandparents Andrew and Shirley Diaz; grandparents Lloyd and Jewel Kline; step-grandparents Bill and Iris Skelton; step-grandparents the late Don and Pattie Suthoff; younger brother Dimitri; stepbrothers Chris, David, Brandon and Casey; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 24th, 2011 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park.
