With sadness, but also with gratitude for his release from pain and suffering, the family of Don Leslie Robinson announces the passing of their husband and father in the home of his daughter, Julianne Bowler on October 30, 2009 in St. George, Utah. He will be deeply missed. Don was born December 13, 1923 in Pocatello, Idaho to Abby Johnson and Nathan Robinson. He was the youngest of seven children. He enlisted in the Air Force during World War II and trained as a pilot, receiving his wings near the end of the war. He loved to fly, and served as a flight instructor during the remainder of his tour of duty.
After discharge, he served in the Central States Mission for the LDS Church. He then married Rosa Afton Goodman on October 7, 1948. After graduation from Arizona State University with a degree in biology, he found his calling in life in education, teaching youth the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ as a Seminary and Institute teacher in the Church education system. He later served as the principle of the Utah Technical College (now Utah Valley University) as well as in other administrative positions. After retiring he was called to serve as a Church education missionary in Shiprock, New Mexico and in Capetown, South Africa. During his life he had many church callings, including bishop of the Taylorsville 7th Ward.
He is survived by his wife, 7 children, (Rosaline Cook (Glenn), Don L. Jr. (Sue), Edwin N (Jane), John R (Diane), Joseph L, Julianne Bowler (Vance), Matt G (Debbie), 23 grandchildren and 29 great-great grandchildren. Don was very committed to his family and loved to spend time with his grandchildren who have fond memories of playing games with Granddad. His life was lived with the goal of loving and serving God, his family, and his fellowmen.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 6, 2009 at Mountain View Memorial, 3115 East 7800 South. Friends may call beginning at 9:30 A.M. at the mortuary.

He will very much be missed by all who knew him. He was such a nice person, he genuinely cared about people and wanted to make them happy. I will never forget how he would slip us a piece of gum when we would go up to shake his hand after church. :)
