Mrs. Dona L. (DeWees) Schaller, 69, of 13623 Blue Ridge Avenue, Blue Ridge Summit, PA died Friday evening, February 3, 2012 in her home. Her death was unexpected and attributed to natural causes. Born July 28, 1942 in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Richard H. and Lola (Ferguson) DeWees. Mrs. Schaller graduated from Waynesboro Area High School with the class of 1961. She later graduated from Beauty Culture and Cosmetology School. She and her husband the late, Donald Lee Schaller, Sr., were married on April 20, 1963 and moved to their present residence in 1977. Mr. Schaller died February 10, 1999. In her early life, Mrs. Schaller ran the barber and beauty Shop on Fort Ritchie. She was a member of Church of the Transfiguration, Blue Ridge Summit, where she taught Sunday School, was a youth leader, and served on the alter guild as well as many other committees for the church. She was also a member of Blue Ridge Sportsman's Association. She enjoyed cross stitching, reading and visiting with family and friends. She is survived by two daughters: Dawn Kohler of Waynesboro, and DeLea Barkdoll of Columbia, MD; one son, Donald Schaller, Jr. of Blue Ridge Summit; three grandchildren: Bradley "Bryce" Kohler II, Elleora Kohler, and Benjamin Barkdoll; two sisters: Diana Delauter of York, PA, and Dixie Heller of York; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Rose Barkdoll. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M., Thursday, February 9, 2012 in Church of the Transfiguration, 13646 Summit Ave., Blue Ridge Summit, with The Rev. John McDowell officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Church Cemetery, Cascade, MD. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday evening, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad Street, Waynesboro. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: The Cumberland Valley School of Music, 1015 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
