Dona M. Weber, 79, Casselton, ND, died Monday, November 10, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Center, Arthur, ND.

Dona Marie Aasgaard was born July 26, 1929 to Ivan and Carol Aasgaard in Fargo, ND. Ivan was a life long fireman, serving as assistant fire chief in the Fargo Fire Department and Carol worked for many years as a sales clerk for Moodies. Dona grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1947. As a young girl, she contracted spinal meningitis and was consequently bed ridden for an entire year. She married Bob Christianson of Fargo, who died after only six months of marriage from an electrical engineering accident at North Dakota State University. Dona later attended Interstate Business College and then worked as a travel agent for Northwest Orient Airlines in Fargo and Yakima, WA.

In 1955, she married Francis E. "Hank" Weber of Wheatland, ND and they lived on the family farm before moving to Casselton in 1973. Hank was a farmer and long time state legislator. The past 25 years, Hank and Dona spent their winters in Harlingen, TX, where they did volunteer work teaching remedial reading to Hispanic elementary school children. Dona was a 4-H leader, member of Casselton homemakers and women's clubs, Hawley Art Show and local Bible study group. She also served as the Chairwoman of the ND State Democratic NPL Party Women's Organization. She was excellent at sewing and painting and she loved reading and crossword puzzles. Dona and Hank traveled extensively and together, they made trips to nearly all 50 states, and Canada, China, England and eastern Europe.

She was a loving and devoted mother, who always made sure her sons had clean uniforms for their sporting events, she ran a pretty good 24 hour restaurant in the home and she used the wooden spoon when her boys needed it! She was especially proud of her four grandchildren and two daughters-in-law. In recent years, Dona became ill with Alzheimer's Disease and lived in the Good Samaritan Center at Arthur, where she was very well cared for.

She leaves her husband, Hank, at home; two sons, Mark and his children, Harrison and Sheyenne of Casselton and Todd (Marsha) and their children, Haley and Griffin of Wheatland and a brother, Tom (Janet) Aasgaard of Minneapolis, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter-in-law, Sandra.

The family requests that memorial gifts be directed to the Good Samaritan Center, Arthur, ND.
