Dona Rose Clark Soulerin, 71, of Virginia Beach, VA, died Thursday, April 28, 2011, surrounded by her family. Dona was born on August 12, 1939 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of the late Marvin Willard and Barbara Overdorf Clark. She graduated from Jersey Shore Area Senior High School in 1957 and married John Joseph Soulerin on May 18, 1958. Through John's travels with the United States Navy, the couple resided in Sanford, Florida and Lexington Park, Maryland and eventually settled in Virginia Beach, Virginia where they raised three daughters. Dona became a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Virginia Beach over 40 years ago and remained a faithful member of her church to her death. She very much enjoyed the comfort, love, support, friendship and fellowship of the members of her church and actively supported the church and her community through many efforts, including volunteering with Meals on Wheels and preparing bread for Sunday communion service. Dona also enjoyed many wonderful years at KinderCare Learning Center on Great Neck Road in Virginia Beach where she formed several lifelong friendships and touched the lives of the many young children for whom she cared. Dona was truly a woman of great faith, love, caring and service. Dona was predeceased in death by her devoted husband of 52 years, John. John was truly the love of her life and Dona was his, for as long as anyone can remember. Her brother, Marvin Clark, of Waterville, Pennsylvania, also precedes her in death. Dona and Marvin shared many wonderful times together growing up and later as their families spent summer vacations and many other special occasions together with Dona and John's extended Pennsylvania family. Dona is survived by three daughters, Debra Soulerin Grimm, Christina Soulerin Daley and Dawn Joann Soulerin, and sons-in-law, Jeffrey Stuart Grimm and Jeffrey Allen Daley. She is also survived by three granddaughters, Amber Nicole Soulerin, Jennifer Leigh Daley and Johnna Renea Daley; one grandson, John Jeffrey Soulerin; two step-grandsons, Joshua Stuart Grimm and Zachary Alexander Grimm; and her brother and sister, Ronald Clark, of Pennsylvania and Barbara Jean Wheeler, of Florida. Dona was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, neighbor and more to all whose lives she touched, those she comforted and cared for, and all who were fortunate to have crossed paths with her in life. She will be missed. She will be remembered. She will be loved … always. A viewing will be held at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, followed by a private graveside service on Tuesday, May 3, and interment at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
