Donald A. Taft of Loveland, died on July 4, 2011 at the Sierra Vista Health Care Center in Loveland. He was born on November 9, 1930 in Riverside, RI, to William and Cathrine (Howard) Taft. Don graduated from Cranston High School in 1948 and was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1950, serving in Korea. As a young boy, he served as an Alter boy. Don was a metallurgist and traveled all over the world heat treating for the majority of his career. On July 2, 1997, he married Marcy Cooper in Glendora, CA. He managed self storage facilities in California and later retired to Loveland in 2007. He was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the VFW. He was preceded in death by his parents, 7 brothers, and 2 sisters. He is survived by his wife, Marcy of Loveland; a step-son, David (Carol) Conner of Wisconsin; step-daughters, Earlene Kerns of Loveland and Tammie (Clay) Vanbuskirk of Wisconsin; ten grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 12:30 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
