Donald Edward King age 52, passed away suddenly April 20, 2011 in Lancaster, California. Donald was born on Mother’s Day, May 11, 1958 in Lancaster, California. He spent most of his life in Monterey and Imperial counties, with the last 10 years in Lancaster. A local handyman and mechanic, he was able to fix anything that was broken. A quiet person, he was greatly concerned about the effects of drugs and alcohol on people and served as a mentor to a number of friends to help them deal with these problems. Donald was a help to his widowed mother and did everything he could to help her on a daily basis. Donald was an avid cook and loved to can various items. He was frequently seen riding his three-wheeled bicycle looking for odd jobs and opportunities to help others. Donald loved to troubleshoot and repair any mechanical or electrical device that was presented to him, amazing people when he returned the item to them repaired and working when they had given up hope on ever using the item again. He was a hard worker and always was willing to help others whenever they needed help. Donald was a unique individual and a throwback to an earlier age when people would fix things instead of discarding them and buying a replacement. He was the original recycler. Donald will be sorely missed. He is survived by his mother, Jeanette King, his sister Debra Reynoso, his brothers Jeff King, David King and Rick Wallin, and numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. He is at peace at last and in a better place. Private family services were held.
