Donald George Pieper was born on January 15, 1926, in Young America Township, Minnesota. He was the son of George and Esther (Stoeckmann) Pieper. Donald was baptized as an infant on January 24, 1926, by Rev. M. F. Abraham, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on March 17, 1940, by Rev. W. P. Kramer both at St. John's Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America, Minnesota. He received his education at St. John's Parochial School and then graduated in 1944 from Central High School in Norwood Young America. Donald entered active military service in the United States Navy on November 16, 1944, and served his country in Bremerton, Washington, as the ships 2nd class cook. He received an Honorable Discharge on August 14, 1946. On April 30, 1949, Donald was united in marriage to Ramona Huepenbecker by Rev. J. H. Bunge at St. Paul's Evangelical Reformed Church in Plato, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Julie, Dana and Bill. Donald and Ramona made their home in Norwood Young America. They shared over 63 years of marriage. Donald worked at Knutson Liquor Store for several years and then in 1956, he started farming. After 35 years of farming, Donald retired and started working part time at Young America Corporation. Donald was a faithful and lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America, where he served as an elder, trustee and many years as a steward. He also served on the school board at Central Schools for 9 years and the Carver County Park Board. Donald enjoyed reading, collecting coins and planting things, especially trees and flowers. He cherished the time spent with his family and friends. Donald passed away on Monday, January 7, 2013, at Waconia Good Samaritan Care Center in Waconia, Minnesota, at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 23 days. Blessed be his memory. Donald is survived by his: Wife, Ramona Pieper of Norwood Young America, MN; Children, Julie Kloempken and her husband, Thomas, of Hamburg, MN, Dana Wood and her husband, Don, of Circle Pines, MN, William Pieper and his wife, Lisa, of Norwood Young America, MN; Grandchildren, Heidi Peters and her husband, Sean, Jill Jopp and her husband, Timothy, Kelly Wiegert and her husband, Joel, Nolan Kloempken, Natalie Soulek and her husband, Samuel, Joshua Wood and his wife, Deanna, Luke Wood, Jeffrey Pieper, Phillip Pieper and his fiancé, Amy Heiden, Andrew O'Connor, Amber Pieper; Great Grandchildren, Taylor Peters, Jocelyn Peters, Symone Jopp, Elijah Jopp, Abram Jopp, Samuel Jopp, Cade Wiegert, Maxwell Wiegert, Annaliese Wood, Rosalyn Wood, Lincoln Soulek, Logan Pieper; Brother, Howard Pieper and his wife, Darlene, of Hamburg, MN; Brother-In-Law, Wilfred Fruetel of St. Louis Park, MN; Sisters-In- Law, Mavis Huepenbecker of Wayzata, MN, Sylvia Conrad of Burnsville, MN; Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and many friends.
