Donald Kermit Edmondson, 87, of the 1100 block of Red Maple Road, Chesapeake, VA, passed away August 15, 2011, in Maryview Hospital. A native of Robersonville, NC, he was the son of the late Leland and Katherine Edmondson. He retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a Machinist and was an Army veteran. He is survived by his wife, Nina Edmondson; his son, Donald Edmondson, Jr. and wife Martha; his twin sister, Dorothy Edmondson; sister, Barbara Evans and husband Charles; and two brothers, Ray Edmondson and wife Nellie, and Randolph Edmondson. He was predeceased by a son, Gary L. Edmondson; and sister, Margie Johnson. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel, Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
