Donald "Buck" Newman, 84, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Parkview North Hospital in Fort Wayne. Born in Wolcottville, he graduated from Wolcottville High School in 1943, was a US Navy World War II Veteran. He was a truck driver with Smith Transfer Co. for 39 years, retiring in 1986. He was an avid woodworker and used this knowledge while working at Sears in the tool department for 13 years. He was also an auctioneer for various local companies during the 1980's. He is survived by his wife, Doris June Newman of Fort Wayne; children, Pamala (Michael) Fox of Angola, Thomas A. (Linda) Newman, and Cindy (Mike) Trueblood both of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Adam, Nick and Jeff Newman, Heidi Newman Ridenour, Jennifer and Daniel Fox, Elaine and George Trueblood; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, June (Don) Clark of Fort Wayne; and brother, Richard (Marge) Newman of Kendallville. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Minor A. and Hazel I. Newman; brothers, William Franklin Newman, and Robert Newman; and sister, Mary Badger. Service is 11 a.m. Friday at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road with Pastor Rochelle officiating. Calling from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at funeral home.
