Donald Oliver Keeney Jr., 82, lifelong resident of Annapolis, died November 15 at his residence, with his family around him, after a terminal illness.
He attended Annapolis High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, being honorably discharged in 1953. He spent his entire working life in piano tuning and repair. He was the longtime owner of Keeney's Music Store on West St. After selling the business, he continued tuning and rebuilding pianos up until his death. He was a member of the Eastport United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his son, Wally Keeney.
He is survived by son, Donnie Keeney III of Annapolis; two daughters, Jennie "Becky" Cornett and Jackie Keeney, both of Arnold; former spouse, Shirley Keeney of Arnold; sister, Flo Keeney of Annapolis; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on BOTH Sunday and Monday, November 20 and 21 at Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis. Funeral will be 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22 at Taylor Funeral Home Chapel. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Maryland (in memory of Mr. Keeney's son, Wally), 1301 York Road, Suite 404, Lutherville, MD 21093.
