Lifelong Durango resident Donald Raymond Trujillo died Saturday, August 7, 2010, at home in Durango, Colo. He was 62. Donald was born November 21, 1947, in Pagosa Springs, Colo., son of Herman and Angelina Trujillo. Following graduation from Durango High School, he completed basic training in Fort Pendleton, Calif., and served in the U.S. Army. He completed two tours in Vietnam. He married Rita Garcia in Farmington, N.M., in 1976. The couple divorced and later remarried in 1982. He worked for Southwest Roofing in Farmington, then moved on to TL Roofing in Durango, working as a journeyman roofer and supervisor for 21 years. Don's hobbies included hunting, fishing, working out and riding his Harley Davidson. He was an avid reader who also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved taking his granddaughter and goddaughter swimming and to the park. His family said, "Donald was a great man. He was nice to everyone he came in contact with. He will be missed greatly." Don was preceded in death by father Herman Trujillo and brother Herman "Ben" Trujillo. He is survived by mother Angelina Trujillo, daughter BriAnna Trujillo, stepson Ross Valencia, a granddaughter, and a goddaughter, all of Durango; and several nieces and nephews. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, August 15, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 16, 2010, also at Sacred Heart, with Father Antonio Flores officiating. A military burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery.
