Donald Russell Van Kline, Jr. “Donnie” was granted his Angel wings on May 7th two thousand and eleven. His final days were spent surrounded by the love of his family and friends whom he had touched in some way throughout his memorable life. Born on September 11, 1967 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to the Late Florence Barden and Donald Van Kline, Sr., he attended the Linden Public School system and was employed by Meat City Inc in Linden periodically for over 20 years. Donnie (also known as Faheem to some) life would have seemed so short, but those whose life he touched understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His smile was bright and that alone brought so much joy to his family and friends. He had his ways and when he didn’t get them his favorite sayings were “come on” and “oh word.” Donnie enjoyed his time with his family far more than anyone could ever imagine. His laughter was so distinctive that if you heard it behind you, you knew it was him. Besides his parents, Donnie was also predeceased by his sister, Pamela York. Donnie is survived by his three children, Mutiqua, Freddie and Zalaiyah; three sisters, Alfreda Clayborne, Antonia York and Monica Van Kline; two brothers, James Barden, Sr. (Jeanne) and John Van Kline; two very special aunts, Roberta Barden-Van Kline and Juanita Randolph. Donnie was loved enough to have an extended family as well: Lillian Gillis, sister Carolyn Gillis, Brothers Charles and Jerome Gillis and Benny Barnes, eighteen nieces, and nephews and a host of other extended family members and friends.
