Donna Leone Pickett, 81, Kokomo, died at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, April
27, 2010, at the St. Vincent Indiana Heart Hospital in Carmel from
complications after surgery. A Christmas baby, born Dec. 25, 1928,
in Kokomo, she was the daughter of Mary Grace (Redmon) and Guy
"Dick" DeShon. She married Donald L. Pickett on Sept. 17, 1955, in
Kokomo at Main Street Untied Methodist Church. He preceded her in death April 27, 1990.
She graduated from Kokomo High School in 1948. She worked
several years at Haynes Stellite and Delco Electronics, but spent
most of her life being the perfect loving mother and family caregiver.
She loved spending time with her many friends and family and also
Surviving is a son, John Raymond Pickett, Carmel; sisters, Mary
Margaret (Bruce) Kingery, Rochester Hills, Mich., Barbara Rose
DeShon, Kokomo, and Grace Marie (Jim) Woolley, Shelby Township,
Mich.; special cousin, Shirley Jane (Shearer) Johnston, Livonia,
Mich.; sister-in-laws, Ethelda "Candy" Shaak and LaWana Ballinger,
both of Kokomo; brother-in-law, Forest Pickett, Kokomo; 11
nephews; and nine nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two nieces;
and one nephew.
