Donnie M. Patterson was the oldest of five born to Mamie Patterson and Junnie Carr on July 16, 1957 in Louisville, Kentucky. One brother, Terry L. Patterson, mother-in-law, Mary Bowens, sister-in-law, Annie Jackson, brother-in-law, Gentle Bowens, uncle, Joe Patterson, grandmother, Luvina Johnson, all preceded him in death. Donnie was educated in the St. Louis Public Schools. Upon graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as a military policeman. He was honorably discharged in 1976. Donnie was employed at the Record Center located at 9700 Page for thirty-five years faithfully, as a Military Customer Service Representative. He married Shirley T. Bowens on September 9, 1981. They had thirty beautiful years together. After seventeen years of marriage, God blessed them with a bundle of joy, Donyae. Donnie confessed his life to Christ at Blessed Hope Missionary Baptist Church in 1999. He was a member of the Mass Choir and a Deacon of the Church. He was called to preach the gospel on August 28, 2005. On October 23, 2011 he was ordained as a minister. He taught the New Disciples Membership Class until his health failed. His memories will forever be cherished by: his devoted wife of 30 years, Shirley Patterson; (2) daughters, Danyelle Pratt and Donyae Patterson; (1) grandson, Brice Wilder, mother, Mamie Patterson; (2) brothers, Jerome Patterson (Vera) and Shawn Patterson; (1) sister, Carolyn Monroe (Mike); (2) aunts of Louisville, KY, Frances and Marie; (1) uncle of Louisville, KY, John Patterson; (1) father-in-law, Gentle Bowens; (2) brothers-in-law, Roy Bowens (Shirley) and Herbert Bowens; and a host of nephews, nieces, great-nieces, cousins and friends.
